Michelle San Miguel is a recent graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While there, she double majored in broadcast journalism and international relations. This past summer, Michelle completed a fellowship with News21, a Carnegie-Knight initiative. She spent most of her summer in northeastern Washington reporting on the consequences of war and the effects that it has on U.S. families.
While at Syracuse University, Michelle reported for ABC News on Campus. Her work appeared on ABC’s World News and the World News Webcast. She also served as the executive producer of CitrusTV Noticias, one of the only Spanish-language newscasts on a college campus.
Michelle spent two years working for CONNECT, a public affairs program airing around Central New York. She also spent a summer interning at the NBC and Telemundo duopoly in Miami, where she reported for the intern newscast.
Also at Syracuse, Michelle won the Don Edwards Broadcast Journalism Award, an award given to a senior broadcast journalism student who demonstrates advanced writing, reporting and performance skills.
A native of Miami, Michelle has always had an interest in the Latino community and hopes to report from Latin America some day.
